Camping

Marshall is needing to get some camping nights for his camping merit badge, so I am taking it upon myself to take him camping. He will learn the best skills by going with me because I don't know to set up a tent or build a fire. We went to the Spruces Campground last night. We did get the tent up - the rain that has been pouring down all week was not present - the problem came when Marshall was building a fire. Both boys were a little too excited to light the matches and didn't get the "log cabin" or "tee pee" built before they went through all the newspaper. We had to call dad to bring us some more fire starter and help start the fire. Sure enough right after the fire got going and we finished our s'mores - the rain came sprinkling down. We went to bed and before we went to sleep the rain had stopped, but boy was it cold!!!

THE NEXT MORNING - Marshall built a great fire. Cole and Molly had s'mores before breakfast. Marshall made french toast and sausage. Great job! Somehow he thinks it is fun to help cook when we are outside. When we are at home - not so much fun. We also had a special guest at breakfast (squirrel). I failed to mention that there were tons and tons and tons of long slimy gooey worms all over. The rain just brought them out. You had to watch where you were walking.

I just have to say - 1 night down - probably 8 to go!
